introduction

Potatoes from Wilcox are grown in the key growing regions of the North and South Island and are harvested, pre-packed and delivered to be fresh in store throughout the year.

Wilcox run an extensive crop improvement programme to ensure popular and new varieties are available through the growing seasons for both the fresh and process markets in New Zealand. Varieties are continually evaluated to ensure consistent quality standards in taste, texture and keeping properties.

Potatoes are the number one vegetable in NZ with 87% of us eating them at least three times per week. 35% of New Zealanders eat them daily.

Did you know...
Potato is a staple food for 2/3's of the world population. Pre-Inca Indians discovered it as far back as 400BC. It is thought early potato variants were shipped back to Spain in the early 1500's and it's cultivation spread throughout Europe. The many varieties of potato are the best all-round source of nutrition known to man, second only to eggs for protein.
